A Funny Wedding at Il Conventino | Maria & Andrea

We are not afraid to say that it was one of the funniest wedding we had this year. Everyone was so relaxed and they just wanted to have fun

If you’re planning a funny wedding at Il Conventino in Mentana (Rome), you’ll love this!

Maria and Andrea got in touch with us at the last minute, about 10 days before their wedding (!) Their request was truly touching. They said they were looking for a photographer who made them feel comfortable and who was like a guest. We loved that they were so relaxed. It was one of the funniest weddings we were lucky enough to photograph in this very special year. Everyone from the newlyweds to the guests was very relaxed and just wanted to have fun with their loved ones. Maria and Andrea made us feel at ease from the first moment we spoke over the phone.

The wedding day started with a really funny episode. In the morning I sent a short message to Maria informing her of my arrival time at her home to take some pictures of the preparation and she kindly replied that maybe it was too late to have her bouquet on time! After an initial moment of hesitation … I realised that he had mistaken me for the florist! So we had the first laugh of the day.

The Ceremony at Chiesa delle Stimmate

The religious ceremony took place in the Church of the Sacre Stimmate di San Francesco, in Rome downtown. During the ceremony, the bride and the groom looked happy and excited and despite the masks imposed by the Covid emergency, the guests attended the whole function with utmost participation. There was a special mood at the church before everything started. Lockdown had just been revoked and no one really knew hot to behave. All the guests greeted each other with some worries and fear but after a while they began to feel relaxed and at ease. The arrival of the bride made everyone run inside to get ready for the start of the service.

It is nice to have children moving around during the function because their innocence and authenticity always offer good opportunities for nice pictures.

The rest of the function was filled by true and sincere smiles between the couple revealing strong emotions and excitement for their big day.

Walking around with Bride and Groom

After the ceremony we took a short walk to the nearby Piazza di Torre Argentina and the adjacent alleys. In these moments the bride and the groom are usually able to relax from the pre-ceremony tension and share the emotions of the moment. As usual, we recommend that the newlyweds take only a short walk to take some relaxed portraits after the ceremony so to allow them to reach their guests as soon as possible and celebrate the rest of the aperitif with them. In fact, what better memories can you build than those born from the interaction with your friends and loved ones?

The wedding reception at Il Conventino in Mentana (Rome)

Maria and Andrea planned their wedding reception at Il Conventino di Mentana, a historic residence, former convent in Mentana, a few minutes drive north of Rome with a unique combination of historic and urban style environments. It was a very fun wedding on a sunny and warm June day!

The reception was held in the main garden of Il Conventino di Mentana. It is a very welcoming location. Weddings here are fantastic, because the location is ideal for any type of event. Here you are surrounded at all times by art, history and design. In addition, the place has a large outdoor green space and offers unique scenic alternatives for every wedding idea.

Il Conventino is perfect for those who love the outdoors, and is one of the most beautiful places to get married in the surroundings of Rome. In fact, the place offers an extraordinary atmosphere for a wedding and there are so many wonderful corners perfect for photos. We already knew the location and when Maria and Andrea told us that they had decided to get married at Il Conventino we couldn’t be happier.

Maria and Andrea’s wedding day was a very hot day, but the guests soon found a solution: they managed to cool off with water guns! So they also had a good time and that provided a cue for so many hilarious photos !
